Rapid urease tests (“Clo” tests) are important, reliable, and simple tools for diagnosing Helicobacter pylori in endoscopy settings and like any in vitro diagnostic test should incorporate regular quality control testing.

BIOHIT developed the H. pylori Control to ensure test validity and traceability when used daily or when a new batch of urease tests is brought into use in Endscopy settings. ​H. pylori Control is a urease solution that is ready to use in a convenient dropper bottle. When applied to your Helicobacter pylori rapid urease test the H. pylori Control will produce a positive result and confirm the validity of the test in minutes.

1ml of BIOHIT Helicobacter pylori Control provides enough reagent for up to 100 control tests.

How does the BIOHIT H. pylori CONTROL+ work?

The BIOHIT H. pylori CONTROL+ reagent verifies the performance of rapid urease tests by simulating a positive biopsy reaction to produce a positive test result.

The H. pylori CONTROL+ contains urease, an enzyme that breaks down urea to produce ammonia and carbon dioxide. Rapid urease tests containing a urea substrate and a pH-indicator react positively in the presence of urease. A positive test result indicates that the rapid urease test is performing as expected and can be documented for QC purposes.

How much H. pylori CONTROL+ should I use?

Use 1 drop of the CONTROL+ in place of a biopsy specimen in each test to be checked.

How often should I use H. pylori CONTROL+?

It is recommended to use the H. pylori CONTROL+ before rapid urease tests are used on clinical specimens – this may be daily before endoscopy lists begin, or whenever a new batch of tests is introduced.
