Detection of low-level gastrin-17 for the diagnosis of atrophic gastritis

The BIOHIT Gastrin-17 kit is a microplate-based quantitative ELISA for the determination of human amidated gastrin-17 from plasma or serum samples. This test identifies Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori)-infected patients who have advanced atrophic gastritis in the gastric antrum. These patients have an abnormally low quantities of plasma- or serum-gastrin-17, and are at an increased risk of gastric cancer and of peptic ulcer disease. Gastrin-17 is also a useful surrogate marker for basal acid output, with high gastrin-17 being a marker of hypo- or achlorhydria, and low fasting gastrin-17 suggesting high intragastric acidity in H. pylori-negative patients.

BIOHIT’s series of unified kits feature methods that have been standardised across all analytes and optimised for automation.

This assay is part of the BIOHIT GastroPanel product.

Gastrin-17 Stabilizer

Gastrin-17 Stabilizer can be used for samples undergoing analysis by the GastroPanel blood test. Once centrifuged, the plasma sample should be stabilised using this product. Treated plasma samples can be stored for 7 days at +4 °C or 3 days at 20-25 °C. For temporary storage, the plasma samples can be frozen to -20 °C, but for any length of time over two weeks, they should be stored at -70 °C.

Key Advantages

Reliable detection of low-level gastrin-17 for diagnosis of atrophic gastritis
Rapid turnaround times, with total incubation of just 150 minutes
Broad linear range (0.8-40 pmol/l)
Easily automated on ELISA automates (e.g. Dynex DS2)
